Blanton-Peale Mandala
The term mandala comes from Sanskrit and means circle and center. As an ancient symbol of wholeness and integration, it reflects the Blanton-Peale Institute’s profound commitment to both psychological and spiritual values. It is a path toward healing.
The design of the mandala has been adapted from a labyrinth that is embedded in the stone floor of the great Cathedral of Chartres. It suggests both the entangling, confusing nature of life and the possibility of penetrating to its sacred center where life is renewed and made whole. As a symbol, it reflects the thought of the Reverend Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, the institute's founder.
I have a deep appreciation for the pain, difficulty and struggle
of human existence. It teaches the cultivation of peace of mind,
not as an escape from life into protected quiescence, but as a
power center out of which comes driving energy for constructive
personal and social living.
